Senior Adults
"Explorers" is the umbrella name for the FBC Senior Adult Ministries. The heart of Explorers is Bible study; a traditional Sunday morning study that meets at 9:30 and a Wednesday morning study that meets at 10:00 a.m. We call the Wednesday session Mid/Week Mid/Day (MWMD). MWMD consists of singing favorite hymns, a time of Prayer, followed by an in-depth Bible study led by the FBC Senior Pastor. All of this is followed by a time of fellowship. The entire MWMD program includes much laughter and serious bonding.
Explorers is also the home of several ministries, all designed to serve. “Stitches of Love” meets on Tuesday mornings and makes items to donate to Metroplex hospitals, primarily Parkland. “Explorers Home Ministry” consists of teams that make regular visits to church members who, for aging and/or health related issues, can no longer attend church functions. “His Helping Hands” provide random acts of kindness, normally in the form of transportation, or on an as needed basis.
We take the name “Explorers” serious and stay very active. Every month we take at least one, and occasionally two, day trips to various venues in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. We take two or more overnight trips each year. March 2016, we visited Tyler and Palestine, where we enjoyed the Azaleas and rode the Texas Railroad. Fall 2016 we will spend three days in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Planned 2017 trips are to San Antonio in March, Branson in October and San Saba/Llano in early December. We also have one game day, one breakfast fellowship and one or more dining out fellowships each month.
We encourage you to visit the “Explorers” bulletin board, located next to room 107 for information about up-coming activities.
